History

Development of Brand Briesen Airfield began around 1938 in Germany. It was acquired by the Red-Army for their Anti- Nuclear campaign. It was returned in 1992 after East Germany was reunified. It was brought by Cargolifter AG to construct ships. The company’s plan was to build a hall whose dimensions were as follows; 210 meters wide, 360 meters long and 107 meters high. The cost of construction was 78 million euros. In 2003, the Hall was brought by Tanjong to build the Tropical Island. The construction was complete by 2004 and since then Tropical Island has attracted thousands of visitors. A children’s play region with an area of 2000 square meters was opened in 2007. In 2007, many dimensions were added to the park. Saunas and Spas were built along with six different areas. Lodges and rooms were built to accommodate visitors for overnight stays and increase the footfall. The special fact about the hall is that it is the largest hall in the world with no supporting pillars inside. This is the major reason why millions of tourists flock to this island all around the year. The place is one of the most visited locations in Germany and it is rightly so. With such an intriguing history to this place, everyone is attracted.
