Ingredients

  • One fresh whole chicken: the bigger, the better!
  • 1 tbsp. chopped parsley (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Two paprika

 

Method

  • Start by mixing all the ingredients except chicken in a small bowl.
  • Next, wash your hands clean and pat dry.
  • Then, start applying the margination mixture which was prepared in the first step all over the chicken with the help of a brush.
  • Start roasting the chicken. Let it roast for almost 30 minutes.

What is Paprika?

Paprika is a very famous red spice which is made of dried bell peppers which are ground into tiny particles. Mostly you will find paprika associated with Hungarian foods, as the name has a Hungarian origin. Paprika is a common ingredient in soups, meats, and stews too. It helps to enhance the flavor and color of the food instantly.

Following are the ingredients you would need to prepare this dish:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. (453 gm) fresh whole chicken
  • 2 tbsp. paprika
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 cup of small bacon chunks
  • 1/2 cup (118 ml) fresh tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 cup (118 ml) sour cream
  • One tablespoon powdered black pepper
  • One chopped green chilly.
  • 5 to 7 chopped coriander mint leaves for garnishing.
  • Half teaspoon sugar. (Optional)
  • One teaspoon of dry red chili powder for color (optional)

 

Procedure

  • Start cutting the chicken into serving size pieces. You can cut them into any size, as per your choice.
  • Heat a pan and add the oil or butter in it.
  • When the butter gets hot enough, add the chopped onions, green chili, sugar and sauté until you see the onions getting caramelized and turning reddish brown.
  • After this add the chopped garlic and sauté till it turns brown.
  • Now add the chicken. Followed by one tablespoon of paprika and dry red chili powder to the chicken and mix everything well. Now add salt as per your taste and fry for 5 minutes.
  • Pour in the tomato puree and cover the pan. Simmer it on low heat for about 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Add the rest of the paprika, sour cream and flour in a blender or even you can manually mix them for about a minute using a spoon.
  • Pour this sauce over the chicken and add the powdered black pepper after you have given it a nice
  • For that final finishing touch add the finely chopped coriander leaves and cover the lid.
  • Let the dish simmer for 10 minutes.

Tip: you can add the sautéed bacon and mushroom tortellini and serve it together.
